Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. Here's exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how long we keep it.
Last updated: September 2026
The Short Version
- Your Starlink telemetry stays local. We never collect, store, or transmit your network performance data (speeds, latency, outage history, or GPS coordinates).
- Minimal data collection. We only process what's needed for licence validation and payments.
- Optional anonymous insights. You may choose to share anonymous crash reports and firmware information to help us improve Nexus Telemetry. Both are opt-in and can be turned off at any time.
- No tracking. No cookies, no user profiling, no advertising, no third-party analytics.
1. Who We Are
Nexus Telemetry™ is developed and operated by Liquidbinary Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC370778).
For privacy-related questions, contact us at support@nexustelemetry.com.
2. What We Collect and Why
We collect data through the channels below, each serving a specific purpose. The lawful basis for each is noted below.
2.1 Licence Validation
Purpose: To verify your licence is valid and within the device activation limit.
What we collect:
- •Your licence key
- •A hardware identifier (cryptographically hashed and anonymised)
- •Application version
Lawful basis: Contractual necessity. This processing is required to fulfil our licence agreement with you.
Retention: For the duration of your licence plus any applicable legal retention period.
2.2 Payments
Purpose: To sell you a licence and deliver your licence key.
Since 18 September 2026, licences are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our merchant of record. Paddle takes your payment, handles tax and invoicing, and processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy notice (paddle.com/legal/privacy). We do not receive or store your payment card or bank details.
What we receive from Paddle and keep:
- •Email address (for licence delivery, sign-in and support)
- •Transaction and customer references
- •The product, the amount paid and its currency
- •Your billing country
Purchases made before 18 September 2026 were processed by Stripe (stripe.com/privacy); we keep the email address and transaction reference for those.
Lawful basis: Contractual necessity. This processing is required to complete your purchase and provide your licence.
Retention: Transaction records are retained for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting regulations (typically 6 years under HMRC requirements).
2.3 App Analytics (Opt-In)
Purpose: To identify and fix bugs, and to understand which features are most used so we can prioritise development.
This is entirely optional. On first launch, Nexus Telemetry asks whether you'd like to participate. You can change your decision at any time in Settings → General → Data Sharing.
What we collect:
- •Crash reports: Error type, error message, stack trace, and how many times it occurred
- •Feature usage counters: Simple counts of feature use (e.g. "speed test run 3 times"), with no details about the results
- •App context: Application version, edition (Home or Pro), operating system, and processor architecture
What we explicitly do not collect:
- •No licence keys or device identifiers
- •No Starlink telemetry values (speeds, latency, signal quality)
- •No IP addresses, GPS coordinates, or location data
- •No personal information of any kind
This data is completely anonymous. There is no way for us to link it back to you or your Starlink terminal.
Lawful basis: Consent. You choose whether to opt in, and you can withdraw at any time.
Retention: 30 days. All crash reports and usage data are automatically deleted after 30 days.
2.4 Hardware Insights: Firmware Snapshots (Opt-In)
Purpose: Starlink firmware changes regularly. Anonymous firmware and hardware information allows us to keep Nexus Telemetry compatible with your terminal as SpaceX updates its hardware and software.
This is entirely optional and separate from App Analytics. You can change your decision at any time in Settings → General → Data Sharing.
What we collect:
- •Hardware revision (e.g. the model of your Starlink terminal)
- •Firmware version
- •Country code
- •Which data fields your terminal provides (helps us detect when SpaceX changes gRPC endpoints)
- •Sanitised endpoint responses: structural data only, with all sensitive information redacted
What we redact before sending:
- •GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude)
- •IP addresses (WAN, IPv6, device IPs)
- •MAC addresses
- •Hostnames, SSIDs, device names, and network names
- •Live telemetry readings (download/upload speeds, ping latency, drop rates)
Lawful basis: Consent. You choose whether to opt in, and you can withdraw at any time.
Retention: Indefinite. Firmware compatibility data is retained as an anonymous historical record. No personal or identifying data is included.
2.5 Diagnostics Submission (Manual)
Purpose: To investigate a specific technical problem you're experiencing.
This is a manual action you initiate from Settings → About → Submit Diagnostics. It is never triggered automatically.
Lawful basis: Consent. You explicitly choose to submit diagnostics for a specific issue.
Retention: Retained for the duration of the related support case plus 2 years.
2.6 Account Sign-In
Purpose: To let you see your licences and manage your devices at account.nexustelemetry.com.
What we collect:
- •Your email address
- •A one-time sign-in link and code, stored only as a one-way hash
- •The IP address a sign-in was requested from, to limit repeated requests
- •A session cookie while you are signed in, which lasts 15 minutes
Lawful basis: Contractual necessity for signing in; legitimate interests for the IP address, to protect the service from abuse.
Retention: Sign-in requests, including the IP address, and ended sessions are deleted after 30 days.
2.7 Prices on This Website
Purpose: To show you the current price in your currency, the same price Paddle's checkout will charge.
When you open a page that shows prices, your browser asks Paddle for the current prices. Paddle receives your IP address to work out your country, and uses it only to answer with the price. No cookie is set, nothing is stored in your browser, and we receive nothing from the request. Paddle's retention and analytics script is blocked on our website.
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests. Showing you an accurate price before you buy.
Retention: Nothing is kept by us.
2.8 Translation Suggestions (Manual)
Purpose: To review a translation you suggest from the app or the documentation, and to reply if you ask us to.
We keep the suggestion, the text and language it concerns, the app version or page, and your email address only if you give one.
Lawful basis: Consent. You choose to send a suggestion and whether to include your email address.
Retention: Until the suggestion is reviewed, then up to 2 years.
3. Update Checks
Nexus Telemetry periodically checks for application updates. These requests include only your current version number and operating system. No personal data is transmitted.
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests. Keeping the software up to date and secure.
4. Data We Do Not Collect
Nexus Telemetry is designed to be local-first. We want to be clear about what stays on your machine:
- Your Starlink telemetry data
- Speed test results
- GPS coordinates or location
- Obstruction maps and outage history
- Connected device information
- Network names, SSIDs, or IP addresses
All telemetry data shown in Nexus Telemetry is fetched directly from your Starlink terminal over your local network and stored only on your machine.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Sales and Payments: Licences are sold by Paddle, our merchant of record, and earlier purchases were processed by Stripe. Both are subject to their own privacy notices (Paddle, Stripe).
- Update Server: Hosted infrastructure to deliver application updates.
- Licence Server: Validates licence keys and activation status.
- Map Tiles: Maps in the apps load from our own tile infrastructure (hosted on Cloudflare). We do not log map tile requests. Versions before Home 1.0.5 and Pro 1.0.11 loaded map tiles from CARTO, a third-party provider, until updated.
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
6. Data Storage and Security
- •Licence, account and payment records are stored with Cloudflare, our hosting provider, in its database and storage services located in Western Europe.
- •Records created before 18 September 2026 were also held in a managed database hosted by DigitalOcean. That copy is deleted when the old licence server is retired.
- •Anonymous analytics and firmware data is kept separately, with no link to your licence or payment data.
- •All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption in transit).
- •We do not log IP addresses from anonymous analytics or firmware snapshot submissions.
7. Data Retention Summary
8. Your Rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

- •Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data
- •Erasure: request deletion of your data
- •Restriction: request that we limit how we use your data
- •Portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
- •Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw at any time
- •Object: object to processing based on legitimate interests
- •Complain: lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@nexustelemetry.com. We will respond within one month.
9. Children's Privacy
Nexus Telemetry is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. International Transfers
Some of the providers listed on our Subprocessors page, including Cloudflare, Twilio SendGrid and Paddle, may process data outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.
