Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. Here's exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how long we keep it.
Last updated: March 2026
The Short Version
- Your Starlink telemetry stays local. We never collect, store, or transmit your network performance data (speeds, latency, outage history, or GPS coordinates).
- Minimal data collection. We only process what's needed for licence validation and payments.
- Optional anonymous insights. You may choose to share anonymous crash reports and firmware information to help us improve Nexus Telemetry. Both are opt-in and can be turned off at any time.
- No tracking. No cookies, no user profiling, no advertising, no third-party analytics.
1. Who We Are
Nexus Telemetry™ is developed and operated by Liquidbinary Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC370778).
For privacy-related questions, contact us at [email protected].
2. What We Collect and Why
We collect data through five distinct channels, each serving a specific purpose. The lawful basis for each is noted below.
2.1 Licence Validation
Purpose: To verify your licence is valid and within the device activation limit.
What we collect:
- •Your licence key
- •A hardware identifier (cryptographically hashed and anonymised)
- •Application version
Lawful basis: Contractual necessity — this processing is required to fulfil our licence agreement with you.
Retention: For the duration of your licence plus any applicable legal retention period.
2.2 Payments
Purpose: To process your purchase and deliver your licence key.
What we collect:
- •Email address (for licence delivery and support)
- •Transaction reference
Payment is processed by Stripe (stripe.com/privacy). We do not receive or store your payment card details, bank account information, or billing address.
Lawful basis: Contractual necessity — this processing is required to complete your purchase.
Retention: Transaction records are retained for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting regulations (typically 6 years under HMRC requirements).
2.3 App Analytics (Opt-In)
Purpose: To identify and fix bugs, and to understand which features are most used so we can prioritise development.
This is entirely optional. On first launch, Nexus Telemetry asks whether you'd like to participate. You can change your decision at any time in Settings → General → Data Sharing.
What we collect:
- •Crash reports: Error type, error message, stack trace, and how many times it occurred
- •Feature usage counters: Simple counts of feature use (e.g. "speed test run 3 times") — no details about the results
- •App context: Application version, edition (Home or Pro), operating system, and processor architecture
What we explicitly do not collect:
- •No licence keys or device identifiers
- •No Starlink telemetry values (speeds, latency, signal quality)
- •No IP addresses, GPS coordinates, or location data
- •No personal information of any kind
This data is completely anonymous. There is no way for us to link it back to you or your Starlink terminal.
Lawful basis: Consent — you choose whether to opt in, and you can withdraw at any time.
Retention: 30 days. All crash reports and usage data are automatically deleted after 30 days.
2.4 Hardware Insights — Firmware Snapshots (Opt-In)
Purpose: Starlink firmware changes regularly. Anonymous firmware and hardware information allows us to keep Nexus Telemetry compatible with your terminal as SpaceX updates its hardware and software.
This is entirely optional and separate from App Analytics. You can change your decision at any time in Settings → General → Data Sharing.
What we collect:
- •Hardware revision (e.g. the model of your Starlink terminal)
- •Firmware version
- •Country code
- •Which data fields your terminal provides (helps us detect when SpaceX changes gRPC endpoints)
- •Sanitised endpoint responses — structural data only, with all sensitive information redacted
What we redact before sending:
- •GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude)
- •IP addresses (WAN, IPv6, device IPs)
- •MAC addresses
- •Hostnames, SSIDs, device names, and network names
- •Live telemetry readings (download/upload speeds, ping latency, drop rates)
Lawful basis: Consent — you choose whether to opt in, and you can withdraw at any time.
Retention: Indefinite. Firmware compatibility data is retained as an anonymous historical record. No personal or identifying data is included.
2.5 Diagnostics Submission (Manual)
Purpose: To investigate a specific technical problem you're experiencing.
This is a manual action you initiate from Settings → About → Submit Diagnostics. It is never triggered automatically.
Lawful basis: Consent — you explicitly choose to submit diagnostics for a specific issue.
Retention: Retained for the duration of the related support case plus 2 years.
3. Update Checks
Nexus Telemetry periodically checks for application updates. These requests include only your current version number and operating system. No personal data is transmitted.
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests — keeping the software up to date and secure.
4. Data We Do Not Collect
Nexus Telemetry is designed to be local-first. We want to be clear about what stays on your machine:
- Your Starlink telemetry data
- Speed test results
- GPS coordinates or location
- Obstruction maps and outage history
- Connected device information
- Network names, SSIDs, or IP addresses
All telemetry data shown in Nexus Telemetry is fetched directly from your Starlink terminal over your local network and stored only on your machine.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Payment Processing: Payments are handled securely by Stripe. They are subject to their own privacy policy.
- Update Server: Hosted infrastructure to deliver application updates.
- Licence Server: Validates licence keys and activation status.
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
6. Data Storage and Security
- •Licence and payment data is stored in a managed database hosted within the European Economic Area.
- •Anonymous analytics and firmware data is stored in a separate database with no link to your licence or payment data.
- •All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption in transit).
- •We do not log IP addresses from anonymous analytics or firmware snapshot submissions.
7. Data Retention Summary
8. Your Rights

- •Access the personal data we hold about you
- •Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- •Erasure — request deletion of your data
- •Restriction — request that we limit how we use your data
- •Portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
- •Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw at any time
- •Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- •Complain — lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within one month.
9. Children's Privacy
Nexus Telemetry is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. International Transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted within the United Kingdom and European Economic Area. If any data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.
